     46th Arthur Mennonite Relief Sale

Traditionally the last weekend in August, this well attended event begins on Friday evening with a special auction and a pork chop supper.  Then on Saturday the day begins with a pancake andPicture of Arthur Mennonite Relief sale proveded by http://www.prairienet.org/arthurreliefsale sausage breakfast at 6am and then the main auctions and sales begin at 8am.

The auction items include a variety of locally handcrafted items including many quilts, bedroom suites, dining room tables and chairs, tea carts, china cabinets, entertainment centers, roll top desks, lawn furniture and many smaller wood items.

This is a community effort of many churches and individuals to help bring agricultural assistance, community development and social services for the hungry and needy of the world.

Proceeds from the sale help support the work of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a cooperative relief and service agency located in Akron, Pennsylvania.  MCC was started by Mennonites in 1920 to help alleviate the famine in Russia.  Today it has numerous volunteers working in America and many countries around the world.  Eighty percent of relief sale proceeds go to MCC.  Twenty percent is distributed locally to help people in need.

Come enjoy the friendly atmosphere and share in our community spirit!
