Weekly Arthur Farm Market Set To Debut on June 28, 2008

With the new season’s farm fresh local produce beginning to become available, Arthur Merchants will again offer a weekly Downtown Farmers Market every Saturday morning beginning on June 28 at the Gazebo Annex Parking Lot in the center of Arthur’s downtown shopping area. The weekly market will feature fresh produce from local Amish and English Farms.

Vendors are encouraged participate and bring in any kind of appropriate market items including plants, produce, baked goods or crafts. The market will be open from 8am to about noon depending on vendor interest and customer traffic. There will be no vendor fees charged, and pre-registration to have a space to sell will not be required. Just show up on Saturday morning at 7:30am or later with your items to sell. Space will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Vendors may contribute to the market advertising if they wish.

Saturday, June 28 also is the morning of Arthur’s Famous Fireworks and Freedom Celebration held later in the day at Jurgen's Park on the south edge of town.  Arthur’s spectacular fireworks display is expected to draw in excess of 25,000 spectators this year. The Arthur merchants wish to encourage people to come early and spend the whole day in Arthur. Start the day early and visit the Farmers Market and the stores downtown, have lunch in an Arthur restaurant, and then lay early claim to a good spot to view central Illinois’ best and largest fireworks show.

The Downtown Arthur Farmers Market will continue every Saturday thru the produce season ending in early September. On the 3rd Saturday of each month (July 19 next) the weekly Farmers Market will expand with baked goods, crafts and antique vendors participating in the 3rd Saturday Downtown Arthur Market held in the same location. (3rd Saturday Vendors are encouraged to consider participating each week as the Farmers Market grows.)
